Berberis thunbergii Bagatelle

Height: 0,4–0,5 m

Dwarf red barberry is a small, deciduous shrub, excellent for planting in smaller gardens or rock gardens. Its height does not exceed 30-50 cm, which makes it an extremely compact plant. It grows only a few centimeters a year. It is most beautiful in a sunny position, where the color of its bright red or burgundy leaves will be most intense. It is not fussy about soil, and grows best in well-drained soil. Its water needs are low; frequent watering is needed after planting and during longer periods without rain. It can be planted as a low hedge or as a border, but it is also attractive when planted in a rock garden.
